Panel Discussion on Plans to Memorialise 7 July at Tavistock Square

Join us for a panel discussion on the plans to memorialise 7/7 at Tavistock Square and the possible consequences of these plans for the square's other memorial traces and markers. The panel brings together some of those who were first on the scene and later investigated the bombing with those responsible for the recent memorial campaign and a number of academics working in the field of memory studies.

The panelists include:

Philip Nelson, Chair of the 7/7 Tavistock Square Memorial Trust

Alex Marshall, 7/7 Witness

David Videcette, Former 7/7 Scotland Yard Investigator and Crime Novelist

Silke Arnold de Simine, Reader in Memory, Media and Cultural Studies at Birckbeck University

Gabriel Koureas, Senior Lecturer in Visual and Material Culture at Birckbeck University

Andrew Smith, Teaching Fellow in History at University College London

Katia Pizzi, Director of the Centre of the Study of Cultural Memory at the School of Advanced Study

Samuel Merrill, Visiting Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Cultural Memory at the School of Advanced Study


The event is being held at The Keynes Library at Birckbeck University (46 Gordon Square, London), on Wednesday 9th March from 6.30PM to 8.00PM.
